"I envision schools where every student is supported to reach their full potential, teachers are empowered to lead, and families are engaged as true partners in education."
Four guiding principles that will drive every decision, every vote, and every conversation in our schools.
Our schools must deliver real results for every student. Dr. Mattison is running to ensure stronger outcomes, real accountability, and meaningful partnership with families and educators.
Our children deserve leadership that is prepared, principled, and accountable. Leadership that listens. Leadership that delivers. Leadership is not about a position. Leadership is about responsibility!
Dr. Tamara Mattison is a purpose-driven powerhouse — a restorative justice architect, wellness-minded leader, and a voice of clarity in chaotic spaces. Whether building healing circles in schools or crafting empowering workshops for communities, she moves with intentionality and heart.
Dr. Mattison blends intellect with empathy, structure with soul, and she's not afraid to challenge the status quo — especially when young lives and justice are at stake.
Currently serving as Senior Administrative Manager for Hennepin County Safe Communities, Dr. Mattison brings a distinguished career across social services, nonprofit leadership, and community restoration. She is the owner of Generation 2 Generation, Inc. and Executive Director of Salt, Light, & Love: Restoring Hope and Imagining Justice.
In 2014, Dr. Mattison launched Minnesota's first Safe Harbor Shelter, "Brittany's Place" — a refuge for girls ages 12–17 who were victims of sex trafficking and exploitation. In 2017, she became the first African American Executive Director of the Dispute Resolution Center, Minnesota's oldest mediation organization.
As a Minnesota Department of Education Restorative Practice Trainer, Dr. Mattison collaborates with school districts statewide, bringing over 25 years of lived experience to every classroom, circle, and community she serves.
For nearly a decade, Dr. Mattison served as Head Cheerleading Coach alongside her daughter, Jasmine Mattison, Assistant Coach, at Como Park High School — not just building routines, but building young women. She showed up every single season, investing in confidence, discipline, and teamwork long before it was ever a campaign talking point.
This is what community leadership looks like in action: present, consistent, and rooted in genuine care for the next generation.
